Luciana Brasil is an associate at Branch MacMaster, having joined our practice in April 2002. Luciana commenced her legal studies in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and obtained a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the Mackenzie University in 1993. In 1994, Luciana moved to Canada, and in 1998, she obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Victoria, in British Columbia. Luciana articled at Davis and Company, in Vancouver, and was called to the Bar in May 1999. She continued to work at Davis & Company as a litigation associate until joining our firm.
Luciana has represented clients before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as before various administrative boards and tribunals. In her practice, Luciana has been exposed to a broad range of cases, including a lengthy and complex trust claim involving multiple parties and counsel, and a case where a rarely granted "Anton Piller" injunction, a remedy tantamount to a civil search warrant, was successfully sought. At Branch MacMaster, Luciana's practice includes class actions, insurance defence, defamation and health law. She is currently Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Class Action Subsection.
A native of Brazil, Luciana speaks Portuguese fluently, and maintains a membership in the Brazilian Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil), Sao Paulo Chapter. She also speaks conversational French.
